love that if my writing via computer all starts to look bad and I hate it I can always count on analog writing to catch me 🙏

I somehow always write better by hand then with a keyboard. typing skills too fast for words to flow through my brain naturally. also it's very satisfying seeing the parts I crossed out to pick a better word or way to say something. I feel way more confident in my writing when I can see the different options I tried before which is something typing doesn't give you.

also idk if this is me specifically but analog writing feels way less offcial then typing on a computer. I feel like I can make mistakes with far less fear of it not being perfect immediately. plus you get a built-in editing round when you type it up.

sure sometimes I can't read my scribbled handwriting but then I get to play context clues and guess what I could've possibly put there and if I abbreviated it for no reason and that's why it's too short for the word I think it is or if I just didn't know how to spell it at the time so I guessed and now it's impossible to tell what it was.

i'm nearly at the point that i've given up on art but i'm. trying.

i'm struggling to even remotely like anything i work on anymore, and i've come to realize i'm unlikely to ever get a career related to it which. hurts. it's made it hard to create since that's been my dream since i was little. so it's like. what's the point anymore, yknow..?

depressing shit aside, i've had some new ideas for var that i wanted to get down on canvas...

the haysh twins are being turned into a sephi/human hybrids instead of just humans, so they're getting big pointy ears that can move a bit.

i also got an idea for a prosthetic that i thought could be fun to play with. that idea involved using the force to control it instead of it being a proper cybernetic. unfortunately for var, it's my only character with technopathy, soooo....sorry bud. wouldn't have worked well for anyone else. he ends up building the robotic limb himself

also the long hair, but it's gradually been getting longer every time i've drawn him so i don't think that's surprising,

i feel like my ideas for Koboh are getting gradually more coherent (and complex) as i think about her more....

so! some more things i've thought of for it that i want to jot down in one place

-the funds for the research and construction of her were stolen from Var's mother. she's incredibly ableist, and Var - tired of the way she'd treated him after he was injured - wanted a little petty irony and used the credits stolen from her to fund the project for his custom assistance droid (the funny thing is, Var is very well off financially and could have funded the project himself. instead he wanted to use stolen credits)

-Koboh scans the faces of most everyone she meets, and doing so sends a ping to Var's cranial implant. he can then tag the person it scanned with various pre-set roles, then ping the info back to her to be stored. it's become like a second-nature to him, and he doesn't think to mention it to anyone - the rest of the polycule probably doesn't even know they've got roles! roles include stranger, wary, friend, enemy, doctor, priority with other tags being available to be added to each person

for example, Teeres is tagged with friend, doctor, priority - the latter of which means that if Var faces a medical emergency, then if Res is present among other people, then Koboh will prioritize getting his attention to help, rather than anyone else in the room. friend means she'll allow him to interact with it without hissing or nudging away, and doctor means that if he tells her to do something specific under a medical emergency, then she can do so without Var's input (it can usually only follow Var's orders, per programming, but priority tag can override this)

on the other hand, if Var needs to be carried somewhere, then Farn becomes priority for Koboh to get the attention of

the tag system can get complicated depending on what's needed at the time, but it's like a list in its processor. it gradually goes down that list, "striking off" names as it finds them unavailable, and once it exhausts the list - or hits a certain time frame - it enters a last resort emergency mode to keep Var alive until help can arrive
